Present in the southern suburb of Beirut since the 1970’s, we opened our Ghobeyri center in 1998, in a location that was an internal demarcation line during the Lebanese war. At the time, the center came in response to the need for raising awareness among children and young people about their right to protection from conflict, self-knowledge and citizenship; in addition to the socio-economic needs of the region with its proximity to the Sabra and Chatila refugee camps, which suffer from acute poverty and deprivation.
Ghobeiry center offers many services under the development and empowerment programs, including vocational training and education. It covers the wider Beirut Southern Suburb including Bourj Al Barajneh, Haret Hreik, Mreijeh, until Hay El Sellom and Sahra Al Choueifat, in addition to the section of Tarik El Jdideh, Cola, Mar Elias Camp, and also Ain El Remmaneh and Furn El Chebbak.
